Colombia is rapidly emerging as a globalized country in Latin America. Because of this, it has become necessary for Colombians to possess knowledge of the English language in order to remain relevant in the new globalized job market. API has teamed up with both governmental and nongovernmental organizations to help increase English competency among Colombian citizens.
Six-month, eight-month, and full-year placements are available. Our placements are based upon the needs and availability of the partner programs in various cities in Colombia. Teaching fellows that are native English speakers with college degrees, teaching experience, and Spanish-language skill are preferred. Any participant that does not have an education degree or classroom teaching background is strongly encouraged to take a TEFL/TOEFL/TESL prior to departure.
API's Teach in Colombia Program not only helps Colombians find better jobs, but it also improves the quality of English that is being taught to Colombia's youth; it is estimated that only 10% of Colombia's English teachers are fluent in English. This program will not only give you invaluable international work experience, but it will also help the Colombian population improve their lives!

College degree or minimum 5 years professional experience without a degree
